Missionary Outreach - Anchorage, Alaska, and all the world

Just before Jesus ascended to Heaven, he said to his disciples "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." (Book of Acts 1:8)

The Church has long seen this as a model for reaching the world with the Gospel. We are to reach our city, our region, and the entire earth. To do this, we are funding, and soliciting funds, for various missions organizations and people.

The name of our church body -- Anchorage City Church -- says clearly that an important part of our task is to take the Gospel to our city. We are also tasked with taking the Gospel to Alaska and to the rest of the world.

In Anchorage

We apply the Great Commission (Matthew's Gospel, chapter 28 verses 19-20) in our community in several ways, and more are being developed now.

We are working with homeless people in Anchorage through the Brother Francis Shelter and and the Downtown Soup Kitchen.   Homelessness is increasing in Anchorage, and we want to be part of the solution of providing shelter.

Jesus said about His sheep and said "I was in prison and you came to visit me" (Matt 25:36) Real transformation of those who have broken the laws of society is possible through a commitment to Jesus.  We are regularly meeting for Bible studies at Cordova Center (a "half-way house" in downtown Anchorage).

We are also now working towards assisting in the development of Love, Inc. in the Anchorage area, as well as beginning a ministry designed to help single moms.
