Listen to Anchorage City Church sermons from 2007

December 30 -  9am - Richard Irwin - Worship Priority

Richard Irwin talks about the essential priority of worship in the life of the Christian believer. We cannot be followers of Christ without true worship, expressed from the heart. True worship is not always ecstatic, but it is costly, and it is a mark of all real disciples.

December 23 -  No sermon this week; Christmas play instead

December 16 -  9am - Richard Irwin - Frontloading

Richard Irwin reveals a new focus for Anchorage City Church - "Frontloading." The idea being that while in the past the church has focused most of it's resources on rescuing people from the effects of our fallen natures, our focus should be on preventing the decline of society in the first place. We should target the youth, and do what we can to educate and encourage their healthy participation for their future.

December 9 - 11am - Richard Irwin - Naturally Supernatural #5

Richard Irwin continues with the message of being naturally supernatural, and specifically dealing with how to hear the voice of God in your life. God does not want us to continue on our merry way without a constant contact him, and we need to know things that our natural perceptions can no tell us. The solution is to listen to the Father.

December 2 - 11am - Mary Glazier - Hearing God

Mary Glazier gives practical advice on hearing the voice of God. She discusses the desire God has to communicate with us, the choice we have in listening to Him speak to us, and the ways that can happen. Throughout, she stirs the heart to believe that we can hear Him. We apologize in advance for the poor recording quality.

November 25 - 11am - Mike Curtis - Prayer and Praise

Mike Curtis shows us that we should mix praise in with our prayers. Sometimes we ask and ask, but receive little. Mike says that an important part of asking is praising. This is an unplanned continuation on the subjects of thanksgiving and worship, and in a real sense, Mike ties the previous two messages together.

November 18 - 9am - Richard Irwin - Giving Thanks

Richard Irwin tells us that in order to be spiritual people, supernatural people, we need to be thankful people. Thanksgiving is our proper response to our omnipotent and generous God. This message was delivered after a skit about the providence of God preceding the first American Thanksgiving.

November 11 - 11am - Aaron Gray - Living Worship

Pastor Aaron Gray shows how worship is a lifestyle that honors God. All that we do in obedience and respect to our Heavenly Father is an act of worship. God is looking for those who worship him in spirit and truth, not just in song. True worship is all about living in ways that please him.

November 4 - 9am - Richard Irwin - Being Naturally Supernatural - #4

November 4 - 11am - Richard Irwin - Being Naturally Supernatural - #4

Richard Irwin presents the forth part of this series we started on October 7. In it he discusses the importance of listening and hearing the Holy Spirit's voice within us. Normally we pick the sermon from only one of the Sunday morning services, but both of these were significant enough, and different enough, that we decided to present them both. They each have the same prophetic content from Judith Green.

October 28 - 11am - Rudolpho Chavez & AZ Suarez - Changing Attitudes

Rudlopho Chavez and AZ Suarez team up in an Hispanic centric church service. A first for Anchorage City Church. Rudolpho explains how our attitudes effect all areas of our life and changing them to become in line with the Word of God will change your life.

October 21 - 11am - Richard Irwin & Jim Strutz - Naturally Supernatural

Richard Irwin & Jim Strutz discuss how Christians should always expect to be supernatural people. Specifically they talk about hearing the voice of God and the ways that that happens.

October 14 - 11am - Richard Irwin - Hearing the Voice of God

Richard Irwin continues his discussion of the prophetic, and invites us all to practice being naturally supernatural. God wants you to talk to him, and he wants to talk to you. In fact, you are entitled to hear him, as a child of God it is your right to hear your Father's voice. Too often we do not know what to do, or how to fix the problems we are in, but God has the answer and wants to communicate it to you. Our responsibility is to listen and obey.

October 7 - 9am - Richard Irwin - Valuing the Word of God

Richard Irwin asks if we really value the Word of God? Do we read the Bible? Do we meditate on it, and understand it? Do we obey it, and do we live by it? How about prophecy? Do we value that? Do we dismiss it as less than important, or do we judge it and hold to that which is good? This message starts a short series on valuing the prophetic gift, and insisting that the prophets speak what God says, and only what God says.

September 30 - 9am  - Wayne Coggins - Inside Stuff

Wayne Coggins shares his stories and humor to reveal the real you, the stuff that's inside. Character is what you really are, and it is also what God made. Wane is the pastor of Nikiski Chapel, and the author of his new book; Adventures of an Alaskan Preacher. Check it out.

September 9 - 11am  - Richard Irwin - Faithfulness

Richard Irwin shows that faithfulness is the primary component of a godly character. Without faithfulness even the most gifted person not useful to the kingdom of God, but with faithfulness people of seemingly modest ability can accomplish much. We have all been enabled by God for his purposes, but without faithfulness those purposes will be stunted in our lives.

September 4 - 11am  - Richard Irwin - Foundations of Character

Richard Irwin presents a biblical argument for the development of Christian character through understanding the Word of God. The Bible is a tool that God uses in conjunction with our own experiences that develop consistency of life and fortitude of character. Immerse yourself in the Word - it will change your life.

August 19 - 11am  - Brian & Aaron Gray - Digging your own well

Brian and Aaron discuss how to stay filled with the Spirit. There are times when God sovereignly revives his people, but most of the time we are to practice the common disciplines of prayer and Bible reading. When we sense that we have grown cold, we really have no one to blame but ourselves. It isn't the pastor's job to bring us into true worship - it is ours.

August 12 - 11am  - Richard Irwin - Knowing God's Word

Richard Irwin continues to deal with the topic of grace and truth. The emphasis is on allowing the scriptures to set your direction for living. There are many sources for advice and direction in this life, but it is only the Word of God that will consistently guide you right.

August 5 - 11am  - Craig Hyder & Jim Strutz - Grace OR Truth

Craig and Jim go at it, discussing the differences and primacy of both grace and truth. Jim touts grace and Craig defends the truth. In the end, both agree that these are really two sides of the same coin, and that we are in desperate need of both. However, I think it's clear, and that you will agree, Jim wins the argument. :)

July 29 - 11am  - Richard Irwin - True Compass

Richard Irwin  continues with the topic of Grace and Truth, and this time zeros in on the truth. The truth will not only set you free but will also be your guide on the path that God has destined for you.

July 22 - 11am  - Richard Irwin - Grace and Truth

Richard Irwin discusses the parallel topics of Grace and Truth. Grace is enabling, liberating and free. Truth is the path that God desires us to walk upon. God has great and eternal plans for his church, but for us to fulfill those plans for our generation, we must choose to walk in his truth while trusting in his grace.

July 15 - 9am  - Judith Green - Walk of Grace

Judith Green talks about learning to walk in grace and not judgment. We are programmed to do everything possible to measure up to some standard or ideal, and when we fail to be all that we think we should be, we judge and condemn ourselves, and we do the same for others. But this is never God's heart. If he is our true judge, then why are we so quick to do the judging for him? Come and learn how to be free indeed.

July 15 - 11am   Dick Strutz - Church Builders

Dick Strutz discusses what really makes churches grow, and uses the Bible for his illustrations. In the beginning of the New Testament church what attracted the crowds were the miracles. In the Gospels it was the same thing. Jesus performed miracles and people came to get healed. Today it is the same. What the church needs today is not another method to break through the 200 or 500 member barrier, but the miraculous power of the Holy Spirit working through people.

July 8 - 11am   Brian Gray - Grace with Love

July 1 - 11am   Randy Farris - Walking in Grace

Randy Farris talks about living life while leaning on the grace of God in practical terms. Specifically, he discusses our emotional bondage that keeps us from the reality of Jesus' all encompassing grace and forgiveness. Repentance, at all times, brings us back into the Father's embrace. And if our hearts still condemn us, God is greater than our hearts -- whether we feel like it or not.

June 17 - 11am   Richard Irwin and Richard Irwin - Being Fathers

Tony Anthony speaks of the explosion of the church in India. His organization alone is planting one church per week this year, and there are many miraculous signs of God's power in the region. His admonition to us is to  trust in the faithfulness of God at all times.

May 13 - 11am   Brad Cason - Benevolence

Brad Cason deals biblically with the subject of Christian benevolence and charity. He reveals the heart of God on the matter, and then goes to meddling. :) None of us does this right all the time, and there are boundaries for sure, but many of us neglect one of the primary signs of true and godly religion. Brad deals graciously but directly with our responsibilities and opportunities. He also shows what ACC is doing and how you can get involved.

May 13 - 9am   Richard Irwin - Honoring Mothers

Richard Irwin presents a view towards honoring and respecting parents, and more specifically, mothers. These are the people that have done the most for us, but whom we often honor the least. Richard tells us to pray for them, speak well of them and always honor and respect them.

May 6 - 11am   Richard Irwin - Humble Grace

Richard Irwin shows how that God's grace has little to do with us, and has nothing to do with our deserving his kindness. There is no room for bragging or thinking we are somehow more worthy of God's favor. In light of this, we are compelled to show His favor to others, while simply accepting it for ourselves.

April  29 - 11am - Jim Strutz - Catching His Grace

Jim Strutz tells us that we have a part to play in receiving the grace of God. Many people do without God's best for their lives because they try to maintain control of their destiny. But we are called, not to be in control, but to raise our sails and allow God to direct our course -- to get into position to move the direction God is pushing.

April  22 - 11am - Nita Berquist - Receiving Grace

Nita Berquist talks about how the grace of God supports us through life, and provides the abilities that we need for success. March 25 - 9 am - Jim Strutz - The Goodness of God

Jim Strutz tells stories to show us how good God really is. His grace is provided to us freely because of his goodness, and our only obligation is to accept it. So many good things are given to us all, and it is only because God is good. Far from giving permission to rebel, the message of grace is what attracts us to him. The goodness of God endures forever. Psalms 52:1

March 18 - 11 am - Richard Irwin - Grace: The Essential Component

Richard Irwin shows that the church today needs a healthy understanding of God's grace, and an understanding of how his grace should effect our thinking and our actions. In truth, we need grace to have relationship, fix our failures, or heal our sin sick souls. Without the hope that grace provides, we will fall and never get up. With grace, we still may fail, but we will not quit. Grace is what we need to reach the lost, and to truly help people at all.

March 11 - 11 am - Richard Irwin - People of Influence

God put each of us in places where we have influence with others. We all have an important effect on the people the surround us. Often we fail to appreciate how significant that influence is, and more so, how significant it can be, but the effect is there, none the less. As Christians we need to display the compassion that God has for all, and there is no better way to do this than loving others in actions and words. It is true that we preach the kingdom by proclaiming, modeling and loving, but loving is the most effective way to influence your community today.

March 4 - 11 am - Richard Irwin - Partnerships

Partnerships are a core value of Anchorage City Church, and as such we have many cooperative agreements with other Anchorage faith based organizations and churches. We support with our facilities, our time and our money, groups like Crisis Pregnancy Center, Down Town Soup Kitchen, Brother Francis Shelter, Beyond Borders, and many more. In addition we have been partnering with New Direction Ministries for some time, and we believe that his relationship should grow even closer than what it is now. Listen as Richard reveals the direction that the Holy Spirit has been leading us into.

February 25 - 9am - Richard Irwin - Simple Keys to Sharing Your Faith

For some of us, telling others about Christ is difficult, and evangelism methods seem too confrontational and artificial, but Richard shows us that the best evangelism is simply story telling. Telling someone the story of your relationship with Jesus, or talking about what God has done for you, or even something that you saw God do. These are "God stories," and are the foundation of effectively sharing your faith in an easy, non-confrontational style. People are interested in real stories, and they want to hear yours.

February 18 - 11am - Alan Winter - Willing Hearts

Alan and Heidi Winter spend their lives on missions, primarily in South America. They take teams of men and women into remote areas to preach the gospel and set up churches and medical clinics where few have dared to go. Listen as Alan tells inspiring God stories of their own experiences.

February 11 - 11am - Jim Strutz - Against All Odds

The examples of faith that we read in the Bible often reveal how bad the odds were stacked against the faithful, yet ignoring these odds, men and women of faith trusted in their God to see them through. Our heavenly Father is still asking us trust Him in spite of the seeming impossibility of our circumstances. All that He asks is for us to act on our confession faith, and then watch Him perform the impossible.

February 4 - 11am - Richard Irwin - Being a Gapper

We believe that 2007 will be a year of God induced change for Anchorage City Church, and indeed, the whole church of Jesus Christ. This change will require the exercise of faith on our part, as change brings things to the surface that are not always pleasant. Richard Irwin discusses how to be one who stands in the gap for the saints around himself. Being more than a person who diligently looks out for his own affairs, but one who demonstrates the care of Christ for others as well.

January 28 - 11am - Craig Hyder - Confidence in God

Pastor Craig Hyder shows us the benefits of putting our confidence in God Almighty. God alone will never let of down, never fail us, never disappoint us. He is completely reliable and trustworthy. What ever your problem, trusting God is where you begin to find the answer today.

Apostolic prophet, Mary Glazier shows us the heart of god concerning faith.  Simply trusting God for all the parts of our life. January 14 - 11am - Kim Patterson - Your Vision

Kim Patterson shows the necessity of personal vision for your life and personal success. He talks about the subtle, and not so subtle, things that can steal your vision -- God's vision for you. God has made you successful, but if we let the enemy rob us of what God has destined for us, we need to regain that destiny, and not let the distractions of this life keep us from what God has for us.

January 7 - 11am - Richard Irwin - Optimal Administration

Good administration is key to any effective organization. The church is not exempt, but the organism of the church needs an administration fitted for its use. This Sunday the elders of Anchorage City Church ordained Mike Rawalt as our first deacon. In this message Richard Irwin discusses the principals behind this change in our administration.
